Application:
Baodanone undecenoate is a chemical intermediate. The intermediate L, 4-androstene-17SS-3-11enoate, could be prepared from testosterone undecenoate as starting material, and further reacted with glacial acetic acid, pentanol and mercury to produce baotanone undecenoate.
 
Step 1: The synthesis of L, 4- androstene-17SS-3-eleven enolates
In 200 ml of tert-butyl ether, 4.54 g of 44-androenone 17 -3-11enone [testosterone undecenone] was added. 6.0g mercury was added in a nitrogen atmosphere and stirred continuously. 3.70g of selenium dioxide was dissolved in the mixture. The cooled reaction solution was filtered to separate selenium, mercury selenide and mercury, diluted with ethyl acetate, and then shaken repeatedly with ammonium sulfide and sodium carbonate solutions, washed with water, dried and evaporated by sodium sulfate. The result is 4.1g of coarse L, 4-androstenediene-17/3-3-11-enonate, which is a thick brown oil. It was dissolved in hexane and adsorbed under the action of alumina. Eluent with hexane, hexane-benzene 1:1 and benzene was used to obtain 3.2GL, 4-androstene-17SS-3-11enoate.
 
Step 2: Synthesis of baodanone undecenoate
4.5g l, 4-androstene-17SS-3-11-enenate, amyl alcohol and 5.0ml glacial acetic acid were added to 200mL solution. 12.0g mercury was added to stir vigorously under nitrogen atmosphere. 7.4g selenium dioxide was dissolved in 330ml mixture at reflux-temperature and pentanol was added. The mixture is then stirred in a nitrogen atmosphere to reflux for another 20 hours. Cooling reaction solution, mercury selenide and mercury separation, diluted with ethyl acetate, thoroughly washed with ammonium sulfide and soda solution, dried and evaporated. The obtained crude product was dissolved in hexane and coated with alumina in hexane. It was eluted with hexane, hexane - benzene 1∶1 and benzene to obtain 2.7g baotanone undecenoate.
